Is Stupidity a Disability?

I often spend time sitting in my car in Disabled Parking areas whilst Sue goes shopping. As an acute observer of human behavior I’m drawn to the actions of other drivers in the Disabled area and the first thing I always notice is that very few of the other car occupants are actually disabled. They’re often grossly overweight or terminally moronic – but is this a disability? 🙁

Another thing I’ve noticed is that the people who lithely sprint from car to shop and back are usually smokers, puffing on a cigarette then throwing their butt out into the carpark before the ordeal of easily walking to the store entrance, then repeating the process of cigarette smoking and carpark littering on their return. 😐

Obviously I’m missing something… I thought disabled Blue Badges were for use only by a disabled person and not that you knew someone who had a cousin that once had a granny who was disabled, but so many people abuse the system these days now that disabled tax discs have been abolished that I’m sure it won’t be long before the whole Blue Badge scheme is abandoned as unworkable.

The greedy, arrogant, lazy bastards who abuse the Blue Badge scheme can’t see the harm they’re doing to genuinely disabled people. Not just that we can rarely find a parking spot because of all the disability fakers, but also because they’ll end up killing the scheme for everyone. Perhaps stupidity is a disability after all! 😀
